Why work with me

Most launches stall in the handoffs.

A designer hands off to a developer, who waits on a copywriter, while you chase all three. Every handoff costs time, money and a little of the original idea.

Hiring an agency

  • Weeks of discovery before anything ships
  • Account-management overhead in every invoice
  • You rarely talk to the people doing the work

Juggling freelancers

  • Three people, three schedules, three invoices
  • Gaps between the design, the code and the words
  • You end up as the project manager

Working with me

  • One senior partner from first sketch to launch
  • Design, code and copy that fit together
  • A direct line to the person doing the work
  • Fewer handoffs, so you launch sooner

How it works

A simple process, built around your launch.

No black boxes. You always know what’s happening, what’s next and what it costs.

  1. 1

    Discovery

We talk through your goals, your users and your deadline, so the plan fits the business, not just the brief.

You get: A clear scope and estimate

  2. 2

    Design & copy

Wireframes first, then polished screens with real words, not lorem ipsum. You try a clickable prototype before any code is written.

You get: A prototype you can test

  3. 3

    Build

I develop in small, reviewable steps, so you see working progress every week instead of waiting for a big reveal.

    You get: Working software, early

  4. 4

    Launch & improve

Store releases, analytics and a look at how real people use it. Then we refine what converts.

You get: A live product that keeps getting better

About

Hi, I'm Philip. I sit where design, code and words meet.

Based in
Manila, Philippines (UTC+8)
Building since
2014
Clients in
NZ, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Qatar, UK, France, US and the Philippines

For more than 12 years I've helped startups and established companies turn ideas into apps for iOS, Android, web and desktop, from a #1 mindfulness app in New Zealand to products for AirAsia, Wander and FutureMe.

Along the way I learned that great products don't fail on technology. They fail in the gaps: a design that ignores real-world edge cases, code that loses what made the design good, copy written last and in a hurry.

So I close those gaps myself. I design the experience, build it properly and write the words that explain it, so you get one consistent product and one person who is accountable for it.

FAQ

Questions clients usually ask.

Something else on your mind? Ask me directly.

What kinds of projects do you take on?

Web apps, mobile apps and the APIs behind them: MVPs for new products, rebuilds of apps that have outgrown their first version, and new features for products already in the stores. If you’re not sure it’s a fit, ask. I’ll tell you honestly.

Which technologies do you work with?

On the frontend, React, Next.js and Angular. For mobile, React Native, Flutter, Ionic, or fully native iOS and Android. On the back end, Node.js with Express or NestJS, with MySQL, MongoDB or Firebase. I’ll recommend what fits your product and team, not just what I like best.

Can you build from our designs?

Yes. Turning a designer’s mockups into responsive, working screens is a big part of what I do, and I’ll flag missing states like loading, errors and empty screens early. If there’s no designer on the project, I can design a clean, practical interface myself.

Can you join my existing team or codebase?

Yes. I’ve worked inside in-house teams at companies like AirAsia, Perx and Wander. I’m comfortable picking up an existing codebase, following your conventions and shipping alongside your developers.

Do you handle App Store and Google Play releases?

Yes. I’ve shipped apps for Purpl, Wander, FutureMe, Dish Dash Dine and TaskSpur, so I can take care of builds, signing, store listings and review submissions for you.

How do we work across time zones?

I’m based in Manila (UTC+8), which overlaps with business hours in Australia, afternoons in New Zealand, mornings in Europe and evenings in the US. Most updates happen in writing, with calls when they’re useful.

What happens after launch?

I can stay on for bug fixes, performance work and new features, or hand everything over with documentation so your team can take it from there.
